Donka Miteva

Donka Miteva is a German/Bulgarian conductor renowned for her dynamic artistry and commitment to fostering young musical talent. She studied choral conducting at the State Academy of Music in Sofia and orchestral conducting at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf. After completing her studies in 2007, she was appointed conductor and choir director at the State Opera in Münster, Germany.

Since 2011, Donka Miteva has served as Artistic Director and Conductor of Collegium Musicum Berlin, leading the Symphony Orchestra, Big Oratorio Choir, Chamber Orchestra, and Chamber Choir of the Free and Technical Universities of Berlin. Under her direction, these ensembles have earned numerous awards at national and international competitions.

A passionate educator, Donka has taught conducting at the University of the Arts Berlin since 2019 and actively mentors emerging conductors by providing them opportunities to work with Collegium Musicum ensembles.

 

An internationally sought-after clinician, adjudicator, and workshop leader, she regularly appears at major events such as the World Choir Games, European Choir Games, and Grand Prix of Nations, and serves as a member of the World Choir Council.
